Descubrieron artículos de 1951 que documentaban la intensa búsqueda de Luis, que incluyó exploraciones profundas en la Bahía de San Francisco. Su hermano mayor, Roger, siempre había recordado a una mujer con un pañuelo que se lo había llevado.
Motivada por los hallazgos, Alida reunió suficiente evidencia para que la policía de Oakland reabriera el caso de su tío desaparecido. Las autoridades reconocieron la valiosa contribución de Alida, subrayando que el desenlace positivo era precisamente lo que se buscaba.
