Aumentan los Accidentes con Patrullas: Tres Muertos en Menos de un Mes
En menos de un mes, tres personas han perdido la vida en trágicos incidentes involucrando patrullas de la Fuerza Pública en distintas localidades de Costa Rica, lo que ha encendido las alarmas sobre la seguridad vial y la conducción en situaciones de emergencia.
El Último Trágico Suceso
El más reciente accidente ocurrió en la madrugada del 17 de septiembre, sobre la ruta 32, cerca de Guápiles. Según informes preliminares, un transeúnte intentó cruzar la carretera y, al saltar un muro de contención, se interpuso en el camino de una patrulla en movimiento. A pesar de los esfuerzos del conductor por evitar el impacto, el hombre falleció en el lugar del incidente.
Erick Calderón, director de Operaciones de la Fuerza Pública, explicó que los oficiales se dirigían a atender un robo en un cajero automático, lo que puede haber contribuido a la velocidad con la que se desplazaban.
Incidente en Desamparados
El 1 de septiembre, Carlos Murillo, un oficial de seguridad privada de 68 años, sufrió un accidente mientras estaba en el cajón de una patrulla. Esta unidad colisionó con un vehículo liviano en el cruce de Las Gravilias, Desamparados. A pesar de luchar por su vida durante ocho días en el Hospital San Juan de Dios, Murillo no logró sobrevivir. Sus familiares indicaron que él había sido detenido durante un control de rutina y que la patrulla lo trasladaba a la clínica donde trabajaba.
Una Vida Interrumpida
El primer accidente fatal ocurrió el 21 de agosto, cuando Fabiola Arguedas, una joven enfermera de 26 años, perdió la vida tras un choque con una patrulla en San José. La unidad policial, que se dirigía al Hospital San Juan de Dios, impactó su vehículo, que terminó incrustado en una propiedad cercana. Este trágico evento conmovió a la sociedad costarricense, resaltando la fragilidad de la vida en situaciones cotidianas.
Perspectivas de Expertos
Los expertos han ofrecido sus opiniones sobre estos incidentes. José Zúñiga, oficial de tránsito, expresó que aunque cada caso es lamentable, deben ser analizados de manera individual. Destacó que en algunos accidentes las unidades de emergencia estaban en servicio, lo que podría influir en la dinámica del evento.
Por su parte, William Anderson, abogado penalista, afirmó que el aumento en la delincuencia está afectando la seguridad vial. Señaló la importancia de que los conductores sean conscientes de su entorno y no solo se limiten a pensar que tienen el derecho de paso.
