La Empresa Abandona el Proyecto del Nuevo Hospital de Cartago: Impacto Económico y Dudas Sobre el Terreno
El desarrollo del nuevo hospital de Cartago ha recibido un duro golpe luego de que la empresa encargada de la construcción, Promotora y Desarrolladora Mexicana de Infraestructura S.A. de C.V., anunciara su retiro del proyecto. La decisión, que fue confirmada por la presidenta ejecutiva de la Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS), Marta Esquivel, durante la junta directiva de este jueves, deja en incertidumbre el futuro del esperado centro médico en el cantón de El Guarco.
Motivos del Abandono: Economía y Terreno Cuestionado
La compañía mexicana argumentó en una carta que las razones detrás de su decisión están vinculadas principalmente a la situación económica de Costa Rica, especialmente la volatilidad del tipo de cambio del dólar. Según el documento presentado, las fluctuaciones en la moneda no ofrecen la estabilidad necesaria para proceder con un proyecto de esta magnitud. Además, señalaron que no hubo ajustes de precios que tomaran en cuenta estos cambios, lo que dificultó la viabilidad financiera del proyecto.
Otro aspecto clave mencionado por la empresa fue la idoneidad del terreno destinado para la construcción del hospital. Según sus evaluaciones, el lugar no cumple con las condiciones necesarias para levantar la infraestructura, un factor que contribuyó al retiro de la oferta.
El Cierre del Proceso
Ante esta situación, Marta Esquivel afirmó que el tema de la licitación «queda totalmente cerrado» por el momento, lo que deja en pausa la construcción del hospital. Este proyecto, que ha generado muchas expectativas entre los habitantes de Cartago, ahora enfrenta un nuevo obstáculo que podría retrasar su inicio de forma indefinida.
La decisión de la empresa mexicana ha dejado a la CCSS y al gobierno costarricense con el desafío de encontrar una nueva alternativa para continuar con la construcción del hospital, en medio de un contexto económico incierto y con cuestionamientos sobre la viabilidad del terreno seleccionado.
