¿Cuál es el destino nacional que los ticos prefieren para vacacionar? Descúbralo aquí
Dos recientes sondeos han confirmado que las playas de Jacó, en el cantón de Garabito, Puntarenas, siguen siendo las preferidas por los costarricenses a la hora de vacacionar.
El primer estudio fue realizado por la campaña “Vamos a Turistear” del Instituto Costarricense de Turismo (ICT) en 2021, mientras que el segundo lo llevó a cabo la plataforma de alojamiento Airbnb, basada en los hábitos de sus usuarios en los últimos cinco años.
El análisis de Airbnb revela que en provincias como Alajuela, San José, Cartago y Heredia, Jacó encabeza la lista de destinos turísticos favoritos.
En cambio, en Manuel Antonio, las preferencias se inclinan por visitar San José y Bahía Ballena, en la zona de Osa. Otros destinos populares, que compiten por el segundo lugar, incluyen Cahuita, Tamarindo y el centro de San José.
Durante el primer semestre de 2024, la provincia de Puntarenas se destacó como la región que más turistas recibió, con más del 25% de visitantes provenientes de su propia área. Guanacaste ocupó una posición similar, seguida por Alajuela, Heredia y Cartago, con porcentajes de entre 5% y 20%.
La mayoría prefiere vacacionar en Costa Rica
Según el ICT, los costarricenses prefieren viajar dentro del país, aunque esto varía según la temporada. En épocas como Navidad, Semana Santa y las vacaciones de medio año, el turismo interno supera el 90%. Sin embargo, en los meses lluviosos de setiembre, octubre y noviembre, esa cifra desciende al 77%, mientras que el 17% de los vacacionistas eligen viajar al extranjero en esas fechas.
Gasto promedio de los turistas
El gasto promedio de los turistas nacionales durante sus viajes ronda los ¢200.000, pero en los meses de setiembre a noviembre esta cifra sube a ¢250.151. En julio, en cambio, el gasto promedio es de ¢203.356. En general, los costarricenses prefieren viajar en pareja, aunque también lo hacen con sus hijos y otros familiares, y suelen salir en grupos de dos o tres personas.
La temporada de Semana Santa es la época en que los nacionales dedican más tiempo a vacacionar, con un promedio de tres días. El resto del año, las salidas suelen ser de dos días.
Jacó, un imán para el turismo
El distrito de Jacó, con una población de 15.000 habitantes, es la cabecera del cantón de Garabito. Durante la temporada alta, esta cifra puede aumentar hasta los 85.000 habitantes temporales. Con una playa de 7 kilómetros de extensión y a solo 96 kilómetros de la capital, San José, Jacó sigue siendo uno de los destinos más populares de Costa Rica.
