Crisis en el IVM: Déficit millonario podría dejar sin pensiones a miles en 2047
Un reciente estudio actuarial presentado a la Junta Directiva de la Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS) ha encendido las alarmas en el sistema de pensiones del país. El informe, que abarca hasta diciembre de 2022, expone un déficit de ¢74,6 billones en el régimen de Invalidez, Vejez y Muerte (IVM), lo que compromete su sostenibilidad a largo plazo.
Según las proyecciones, el régimen podría ser incapaz de pagar las pensiones a partir de 2047, cuando se espera que la reserva financiera se agote por completo. El análisis realizado por la Dirección Actuarial y Económica de la CCSS concluye que el IVM no supera una evaluación rigurosa de solvencia a largo plazo, lo que pone en riesgo el futuro de miles de jubilados.
Insuficiencia en los ingresos
Carolina González, directora de la Dirección Actuarial de la CCSS, advirtió que el principal problema radica en que las contribuciones actuales no son suficientes para cubrir las pensiones futuras. Si la situación no se aborda a tiempo, a partir de 2041, los ingresos del régimen no alcanzarán para hacer frente a los gastos, llevando a un colapso completo en 2047.
Actualmente, el régimen cuenta con los recursos necesarios para cubrir el 56,1% de las pensiones proyectadas, pero queda una importante brecha del 43,9% de pagos que no podrían realizarse sin una intervención significativa. Este déficit afecta directamente la capacidad del IVM para asegurar los beneficios a sus afiliados en el largo plazo.
Reformas urgentes al sistema
El informe consideró la reciente reforma al sistema de pensiones, que comenzó a aplicarse en enero de este año. No obstante, las medidas tomadas hasta ahora parecen insuficientes para revertir la tendencia. En la actualidad, el IVM cuenta con 372.671 pensionados, mientras que 1.740.935 trabajadores y 77.752 patronos cotizan para mantener el sistema activo.
Sin embargo, la creciente demanda de recursos, sumada a la reducción de ingresos, podría agravar aún más la situación en los próximos años, dejando a miles de costarricenses sin un sustento adecuado en su vejez.
Este panorama obliga a las autoridades a tomar decisiones urgentes y estructurales para evitar el colapso del sistema de pensiones más importante del país.
