Reinstalarán luces del aeropuerto de Limón tras polémico robo
El Ministerio de Seguridad Pública (MSP) ha asumido el compromiso de mantener una vigilancia constante en el aeropuerto internacional de Limón, luego de que el robo de cables de su sistema de iluminación afectara seriamente las operaciones aéreas. La medida incluye una supervisión las 24 horas del día para evitar que este tipo de incidentes se repita.
Durante una visita a las instalaciones, tanto el MSP como la Dirección General de Aviación Civil (DGAC) aseguraron que la iluminación del aeródromo se restablecerá el próximo 20 de septiembre, lo que permitirá la reanudación de los vuelos nocturnos, esenciales para atender emergencias.
El viceministro de Seguridad Pública, Manuel Jiménez, anunció que la Policía Aeroportuaria fortalecerá su presencia en la terminal con el fin de proteger la inversión realizada por Aviación Civil en la reposición de las luces y el sistema eléctrico. «Se aumentará el personal policial en el aeropuerto para garantizar que esté operativo las 24 horas del día, todos los días de la semana», explicó Jiménez.
Este refuerzo en la seguridad es vital para evitar que eventos como el ocurrido el pasado 25 de agosto se repitan. En aquella ocasión, la falta de iluminación tras el robo de cables complicó el traslado de un niño de 11 años, herido durante una balacera en Matina. Para solucionar la emergencia, la Fuerza Pública tuvo que iluminar la pista del aeropuerto utilizando focos y patrullas para que el menor pudiera ser trasladado al Hospital Nacional de Niños.
