Crece el número de mujeres que le pegan a sus parejas en Costa Rica
8.215 mujeres han sido denunciadas por violencia doméstica por sus parejas en lo que va del 2024.
La información la dio a conocer el Observatorio de Violencia de Género contra las Mujeres y Acceso a la Justicia del Poder Judicial.
Estos datos reflejan un aumento de 208 con respecto al año anterior. En el mismo periodo del 2023 se reportaron 8.007 denuncias de mujeres por agresión.
Además, el Poder Judicial indicó que 8.546 hombres han denunciado haber sido agredidos en sus hogares.
Destacando que el grupo más afectado incluye a hombres de entre 27 y 35 años, con 1.186 denuncias.
Un dato alarmante es que los hombres solteros son los que más denuncian, con 3.609 acusaciones interpuestas.
Sin embargo, esta realidad parece ser ignorada en el discurso público y en el sistema judicial, donde, según Eugenia Quesada, presidenta de la Fundación Instituto de Apoyo al Hombre (Fundiapho), los hombres no reciben el apoyo adecuado.
Quesada explicó en entrevista con Diario Extra que, a menudo, los hombres no reconocen ciertas formas de violencia y enfrentan barreras para obtener protección.
“Nunca se les ha hecho una campaña para enseñarles qué es violencia”, menciona. Además, los tribunales han impuesto requisitos que excluyen a muchos hombres de recibir medidas de protección, como la necesidad de tener una dependencia económica o psicológica de su agresor.
El sistema judicial también enfrenta críticas por sus procedimientos. Quesada señala que muchos casos de violencia masculina no se registran correctamente debido a requisitos ilegales, y cuando se aceptan, las medidas de protección para los hombres a menudo son anuladas por las solicitudes de las mujeres. Esta situación se agrava por el estigma social que minimiza la violencia contra los hombres y el escaso apoyo institucional disponible para ellos.
La falta de reconocimiento y apoyo para las víctimas masculinas de violencia doméstica podría tener serias implicaciones, advierte Quesada, incluyendo una creciente desconfianza en el sistema judicial y potenciales riesgos de que los hombres tomen la justicia por sus propias manos. A pesar de que la ley permite medidas de protección sin necesidad de pruebas, la realidad es que estos casos a menudo quedan desatendidos.
La situación pone de relieve una necesidad urgente de mayor sensibilidad y equidad en el tratamiento de todas las víctimas de violencia doméstica, independientemente de su género.
