Intento de Contrabando de Serpientes Frustrado en la Frontera China
Las autoridades aduaneras de China arrestaron a un hombre este martes después de que intentara ingresar al país con más de 100 serpientes vivas escondidas en sus pantalones. El incidente tuvo lugar en la frontera que separa Hong Kong, un territorio con autonomía especial, de Shenzhen, una ciudad en la parte continental de China.
Según el informe oficial emitido por el servicio de aduanas, durante una inspección de rutina, los agentes detectaron que el pasajero llevaba seis bolsas selladas con cinta adhesiva en los bolsillos de sus pantalones. Al abrir las bolsas, se encontraron con una variedad de serpientes de diferentes formas, tamaños y colores. En total, se confiscaron 104 reptiles, incluyendo especies exóticas como las serpientes de leche y las serpientes del maíz, que no son nativas de la región.
Un video divulgado por las autoridades muestra a dos agentes fronterizos revisando las bolsas de plástico transparentes llenas de serpientes coloridas, subrayando la seriedad del intento de contrabando.
China, reconocida como uno de los principales centros de tráfico de animales del mundo, ha incrementado sus esfuerzos en los últimos años para combatir este tipo de delitos. Las leyes de bioseguridad del país prohíben estrictamente la entrada de especies no autóctonas sin los permisos correspondientes, como parte de una política más amplia para controlar enfermedades y proteger la biodiversidad local.
Aunque las autoridades no han revelado la identidad del detenido ni los detalles específicos de la sanción que enfrentará, subrayaron que «aquellos que violen las normas serán responsables de acuerdo con la ley», indicando posibles consecuencias severas para el infractor.
Hallazgo de Animales Exóticos en un Autobús en Argentina
En un suceso similar, un hombre fue detenido en Argentina después de que las autoridades descubrieran serpientes, arañas y un ciempiés en su equipaje durante una inspección rutinaria en un autobús intermunicipal. El incidente ocurrió en marzo en el Puesto de Control Fijo “Cuay Grande” del Escuadrón 57 “Santo Tomé”, en el kilómetro 669 de la Ruta Nacional N° 14.
El autobús, que había partido de Bernardo de Irigoyen, Misiones, y se dirigía hacia San Justo, en La Matanza, Buenos Aires, fue detenido para una revisión detallada. Los funcionarios encontraron dos maletas llenas de 90 serpientes, 236 arañas de diversas especies y un ciempiés.
Tras el descubrimiento, se identificó al propietario del equipaje, quien fue arrestado por orden de la Fiscalía Ambiental y Rural de Santo Tomé y la oficina de Flora y Fauna. Los animales fueron confiscados y entregados a la dirección de Fauna de la provincia.
Estos incidentes destacan la creciente preocupación por el tráfico ilegal de fauna y la necesidad de medidas más estrictas para proteger la biodiversidad y la salud pública.
