Mujer fallece esperando medicamento para quimioterapia en el Calderón Guardia
Jannely, una madre de familia de 34 años y paciente del Hospital Calderón Guardia, falleció el pasado sábado 15 de junio tras esperar durante seis meses un tratamiento de quimioterapia.
La denuncia fue hecha pública por Noticias Telediario.
Jannely, quien padecía de cáncer de colon, había denunciado anteriormente en el mismo noticiero las burlas y negligencias en el trato recibido por parte del centro médico de la Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS).
Su madre, Blanca Esquivel, expresó su profundo dolor y frustración: “Mi temor era que ella se me muriera y eso fue lo que pasó. Realmente siento que me la dejaron morir porque el tratamiento nunca llegó a tiempo, es pura burocracia”.
El fallecimiento de Jannely ocurrió a las 6:30 de la mañana debido a un infarto. Según doña Blanca:n “le dio u infarto, me la entubaron y ya falleció. Muy doloroso porque ella ya ni la morfina le hacía. ¿Por qué permitir que un paciente llegue hasta ese estado pudiéndole dar un medicamento? Esa es mi gran pregunta, ¿por qué lo hacen si saben que es una persona que tiene cáncer y necesita ese medicamento? No es una gripe, es cáncer lo que ella tenía”.
Más de un año antes, el tratamiento le había sido negado inicialmente por la CCSS, ya que no estaba en la lista oficial de medicamentos. Sin embargo, el fin de semana pasado le informaron que ya contaban con la quimioterapia que ella había esperado.
Blanca también denunció que: “una de paliativos me dijo que ella ya estaba desahuciada, que ya no había nada que hacer por ella, que me la iba a llevar para la casa para que muriera en mi casa. Después, como a la media hora, apareció el doctor Umaña con la doctora Rodríguez y le pusieron la quimioterapia. Le dijeron: ‘Jannely, aquí está tu quimioterapia, te vamos a poner una infusión para que el intestino comience a trabajar. Pienso que eso aceleró la muerte de mi hija”.
Además de la falta de tratamiento, Blanca denunció burlas hacia su hija: “Cuando llegué a Oncología médica fui a buscar a la doctora Rodríguez el viernes 14 porque mi hija tenía una consulta a las 9 de la mañana y una enfermera del Calderón Guardia me dijo: ‘Doctora, llegó paciente estrella’. Así me dijo. Yo dije que raro porque me dijo eso, lo sentí como una burla”.
La familia de Jannely está indignada por la pérdida de su ser querido, atribuyendo la tragedia a la falta de un medicamento y a la burocracia del sistema de salud.
“Nos quedamos sin mi hija por falta de un medicamento. Porque tienes que ir a un lugar, porque tienes que ir a otro, porque la tiene que valorar un médico, porque tienes que ir aquí y allá, porque farmacoterapia tiene que dar la última palabra para hacerlo. ¿Y por qué si es un medicamento para una persona que se sabe que está grave y que necesita ese medicamento para vivir? Eso es lo que me tiene indignada”, agregó Blanca.
Jannely había pasado por tres ciclos de quimioterapia antes de que le indicaran que debía esperar por un nuevo tratamiento.
El Hospital Calderón Guardia se pronunció al respecto y explicó al noticiero de canal 8 la semana anterior: “Farmacia indicó que la comisión de farmacoterapia lo rechazó, pero que están recopilando nueva información para que la comisión lo revise nuevamente”.
Sin embargo, esa revisión llegó demasiado tarde para esta familia.
