La disculpa del papa Francisco por el uso de un término vulgar para referirse a los hombres gays ha puesto nuevamente bajo los reflectores las complejas relaciones entre la Iglesia católica y la comunidad LGBT+.
Desde su ascenso al papado en 2013, Francisco ha sido una figura polarizadora en cuanto a los temas relacionados con la homosexualidad. Si bien ha demostrado un enfoque más compasivo hacia los católicos LGBTQ+, sus declaraciones han sido motivo de controversia en numerosas ocasiones, reflejando la tensión inherente a este tema dentro de la Iglesia.
