Siempre estaba cansada, se quedó dormida en el sofá y murió una semana después a sus 36 años
La madre de seis hijas intentó hablar con ellas en sus últimos instantes.
Eileen Azzopardi, una madre de Inglaterra, comenzó a experimentar un agotamiento extremo, delirios, confusión y pérdida de memoria antes de fallecer repentinamente a los 36 años.
La hermana de Eileen relató que el pasado 31 de marzo, Eileen expresó sentirse extremadamente cansada. Se quedó dormida en el sofá y, desde entonces, no volvió a ser la misma.
Inicialmente, Eileen mostró síntomas de cansancio, baja energía, pérdida de capacidad mental y falta de motivación. Según sus familiares, esta mujer de 36 años era conocida por ser «la comediante de la familia» y siempre se esforzaba por hacer felices a todos; sin embargo, comenzó a manifestar síntomas extraños e inexplicables.
Días después, Eileen volvió a acostarse en el sofá de su casa mientras intentaba desbloquear su celular, lo que preocupó a sus familiares, quienes llamaron inmediatamente a los servicios de emergencia.
En el hospital, Eileen recibió una transfusión de sangre de urgencia, pero su estado se deterioró rápidamente, dejando a los médicos desconcertados mientras trataban de entender qué le sucedía.
Eileen fue inducida a un coma para realizarle una endoscopia, y los médicos se sorprendieron al descubrir que una parte de su intestino había muerto. Aunque realizaron una cirugía de emergencia para intentar reparar el daño, sus esfuerzos fueron en vano.
Las posibilidades de sobrevivir al procedimiento eran mínimas y, seis horas después, los médicos informaron a la familia que el cuerpo de Eileen había «cedido».
«Le costaba hablar, pero me dijo que necesitaba un cepillo para el pelo. Esa fue la última vez que hablé con ella. Al cabo de unas horas, la pusieron en coma inducido y luego desapareció», recordó su hermana.
«Apagamos su máquina de soporte vital y ella tomó su último aliento frente a todos nosotros. Fue muy difícil ver a sus hijas derrumbarse emocionalmente», finalizó. A día de hoy, los médicos aún no han podido determinar la enfermedad que acabó con la vida de Eileen.
