Natalia Díaz desmiente justificación de Gloria Navas respecto a su visita a recluso en La Reforma
La ministra de la Presidencia, Natalia Díaz, desmintió la justificación de Gloria Navas respecto a su visita a un recluso en La Reforma.
Navas explicó que entró al centro penitenciario en calidad de diputada, ya que está colaborando con la Presidencia en asuntos relacionados con la ejecución de las penas.
“Doña Gloria Navas dijo en la conferencia de prensa realizada el día de hoy que su visita al centro penitenciario La Reforma fue uno de los acuerdos de la mesa de trabajo sobre el proyecto de ley de ejecución de la pena. Esto es falso. Lo que verdaderamente ocurrió fue que ella de manera casual mencionó que acudiría al centro penitenciario para visitar un privado de libertad en su condición de abogada”, manifestó Díaz.
“El Gobierno de la República no intervino en las acciones desarrolladas por parte del centro penitenciario alrededor de esta situación”, agregó.
¿Qué fue lo que pasó?
Gloria Navas, diputada del Partido Nueva República y presidenta de la comisión de Seguridad y Crimen Organizado de la Asamblea Legislativa, se encuentra en medio de un escándalo de proporciones considerables: utilizó su credencial como diputada para visitar a un reo de alta peligrosidad en el centro penitenciario La Reforma. Así lo informaron diversos medios de comunicación.
Navas se refirió al respecto la tarde de este martes y aseguró que “todo está ajustado a derecho”.
“Yo no soy solo la presidenta de la Comisión de Seguridad de Narcotráfico, sino que estamos trabajando en la mesa de trabajo donde tenemos totalmente al día y trabajando lo más rápido posible en el tema de la ejecución de la pena”, comentó la congresista.
“Yo fui a La Reforma, el sábado por supuesto, y el día anterior yo estuve en la Casa Presidencial y lo pueden verificar, porque me gustaría que también pidieran certificaciones de esa presencia, como ese policía mentiroso que me imagino que lo acomodó fácilmente para tratar de hacer un escandalito en estos momentos”, agregó.
Navas explicó además: “Yo estuve en la Casa Presidencial desde las 4:30 de la tarde del viernes hasta las 7:30 de la noche, trabajando en la ejecución de la pena con doña Natalia Díaz, con el viceministro de Paz del Ministerio de Justicia, estuvo el fiscal general, estuvieron otras personas que puedo indicar los nombres también, pero sí le podrían preguntar a ellos, qué fueron los temas que nosotros estábamos tratando de ejecución de la pena, que es mi especialidad en esta materia”.
“Yo indiqué ahí que iba a hacer una visita a La Reforma y si estoy en esa reunión como diputada a la reforma entré como diputada y no tengo que hacer cosas, ni dejarme manipular ni engañar a nadie, además son muy conocida, todo el mundo me conoce, también yo fui y dije que quería entrar a hacer una visita carcelaria y hacer una vigilancia en la zona, precisamente porque estamos trabajando en ese sentido, yo creo que eso es más que suficiente para dar una explicación”, manifestó.
Navas enfatizó: “Nadie está inventando nada, ni haciéndome pasar por lo que no soy, yo soy diputada y soy abogada, soy abogada y soy diputada, no me gusta ese tipo de mentiras, y ese manipuleo, precisamente cuando estamos en problemas tan serios de seguridad en el país”.
La congresista explicó que visitó a un recluso con 25 años de condena en mediana cerrada, calificando la situación como cruel, y pidió un régimen más humano.
“Lo que se está pidiendo es que se le de un régimen un poquito más abierto, eso es de humanidad”, dijo.
Por último, la diputada de Nueva República afirmó que el escándalo fue orquestado desde el Poder Ejecutivo.

La visita
Gloria Navas, diputada del Partido Nueva República y presidenta de la comisión de Seguridad y Crimen Organizado de la Asamblea Legislativa, generó controversia al utilizar su credencial parlamentaria para acceder al Centro de Atención Integral Jorge Arturo Montero Castro, conocido popularmente como La Reforma, el pasado sábado 20 de abril.
La situación se presentó cuando Navas intentó ingresar al recinto en calidad de abogada para visitar a un reo condenado por homicidio y robo agravado. Sin embargo, al ser informada de que no podía acceder bajo esa condición debido a las regulaciones vigentes para días de visitas, la diputada optó por utilizar su credencial parlamentaria para entrar, según informó el medio Trivisión.
El reo al que visitó, identificado como Dustin Nathaniel Reid Brown, cumple una condena de 49 años y 4 meses por los delitos mencionados. Reid Brown, de 43 años, fue condenado por su participación en un violento suceso ocurrido el 14 de abril de 2001.
En ese entonces, el privado de libertad protagonizó varios actos delictivos, incluyendo el robo a un oficial de seguridad privada, el asalto a un camión repartidor utilizando un arma de fuego, el atraco a un taxista con resultado de muerte por un disparo en la cabeza, y el uso del vehículo para perpetrar más robos en la zona de Talamanca.
La diputada Navas accedió al centro penitenciario por el puesto 1 y se dirigió al centro de convivencia D, donde se encuentra recluido Reid Brown.
