Puntarenas: Muere ahogado niño de 12 años luego de salvar a su abuela y tía
Una trágica noticia enluta al mundo del deporte y a una comunidad herediana. Keylor Durán Díaz, un joven atleta de tan solo 12 años, quien había destacado como campeón de pentatlón en la categoría U-13 en 2023 y como subcampeón nacional de campo traviesa en 2024, perdió la vida en un heroico acto de valentía.
Según informó el periódico La Nación, Keylor, quien también había sido parte fundamental de la Selección Nacional de Atletismo, participando en varios campeonatos centroamericanos con éxito, se encontraba disfrutando de un paseo familiar en Playa Esterillos en Parrita, Puntarenas, el Viernes Santo, cuando la tragedia golpeó sin previo aviso.
Mientras disfrutaba del mar junto a su abuela y su tía, una corriente los arrastró peligrosamente. Sin dudarlo, Keylor se lanzó en su rescate, logrando salvar a sus seres queridos con la ayuda de un surfista local. Sin embargo, el esfuerzo le costó la vida, y el joven atleta desapareció en las aguas del océano.
Tras una intensa búsqueda, su cuerpo sin vida fue encontrado el domingo anterior en Playa Hermosa, en Garabito, sumiendo en dolor a su familia, amigos y a toda la comunidad deportiva.
Keylor, residía en el cantón de Flores, en Heredia.
