En un dramático partido Saprissa queda eliminado en Copa de Campeones por Philadelphia Union
El Deportivo Saprissa quedó eliminado este martes en la primera ronda de la Copa de Campeones de la Concacaf al empatar 3-3 en la prórroga del juego de vuelta con el Philadelphia Union, que le ganó por un global de 6-5.
En el Subaru Park de Philadelphia, el equipo tibaseño desperdició una gran ocasión de clasificar en un tiempo extra en la que encajó el gol decisivo pese a jugar con un futbolista más.
Luis Paradela (minuto 14), Warren Madrigal (28’) y Mariano Torres (62’), con un gran disparo de falta, firmaron los goles del conjunto morado.
El argentino Julián Carranza, autor de un triplete en la victoria 3-2 de la ida en Tibás, abrió la cuenta del Union en el minuto 17 y la joven promesa estadounidense Quinn Sullivan logró el segundo en el 26’.
Los locales afrontaron el tiempo extra sin el defensa inglés Jack Elliott, expulsado en el 93 por frenar un contragolpe costarricense, pero encontraron el gol decisivo en una pelota parada.
En el minuto 94’, el delantero danés Mikael Uhre remató en el segundo palo un servicio de córner que se paseó por toda el área centroamericana.
El asedio final de Saprissa no rindió frutos ante el acierto del arquero alemán Oliver Semmle y la falta de fortuna en una acción final en la que enviaron dos cabezazos a los postes.
