Rector de la UCR acusa a Ministra de Salud de arremeter contra la universidad por informe sobre aguas contaminadas

El rector de la Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR), Gustavo Gutiérrez, denunció ante el Consejo Universitario los ataques recibidos por parte de la Vicepresidenta de la República y ministra de Salud, Mary Munive.
Según dio a conocer el medio CRHoy.com, Gutiérrez reveló que la funcionaria lo cuestionó por exponer un informe sobre aguas contaminadas con hidrocarburos en los cantones de Moravia, Goicochea y Tibás, acusando a la universidad de actuar con una “actitud politiquera”.
Según el rector, la ministra Munive expresó en un audio su descontento por la divulgación del informe sin previo aviso, amenazando con revisar futuros convenios y alianzas debido a la supuesta politización de la universidad.
“Me cuestiona acá el hecho de que la universidad haya hecho pública la información del hidrocarburo que está contaminando estas aguas sin haber informado primero a ella y acusa a la universidad de que tenemos una actitud politiquera y que por eso dimos la información de esa forma”, expuso Gutiérrez.
El informe presentado el pasado 31 de enero reveló la presencia del hidrocarburo xileno en las aguas contaminadas, sustancia con potenciales efectos adversos para la salud. Este descubrimiento fue resultado del trabajo conjunto entre profesionales de la UCR y el Ministerio de Salud.
Ante las críticas, el rector Gutiérrez defendió la labor de la UCR, subrayando su compromiso con la salud pública y su autonomía institucional. Destacó que la universidad no está sujeta a instrucciones gubernamentales y enfatizó en la importancia de la comunicación inmediata en temas de salud sin necesidad de autorización externa.
