En Nigeria, capturan a más de 70 personas señaladas de organizar una boda gay

Las fuerzas de seguridad de Nigeria arrestaron a más de 70 jóvenes a quienes acusaron de organizar una boda gay en el estado de Gombe, en el norte del país, informaron este lunes, 23 de octubre de 2023, las autoridades.
En Nigeria, el matrimonio entre dos personas del mismo sexo es ilegal y Gombe forma parte de los estados del norte, de mayoría musulmana y donde la ley islámica rige de forma paralela a la legislación federal y estatal.
«Arrestamos a 76 presuntos homosexuales… que celebraron un cumpleaños organizado por uno de ellos que planeaba casarse» con su pareja durante el evento, indicó Saad.
La homosexualidad está castigada con la pena de muerte en el norte de Nigeria, según lo estipulado por la sharia, la ley islámica, aunque esta pena nunca se aplica.
Saad declinó especificar si los detenidos van a ser juzgados por un tribunal islámico o por la jurisdicción del Estado.
