El papa Francisco expresó este miércoles (11.10.2023) su preocupación por el asedio que viven los palestinos en Gaza, al tiempo que pidió la liberación «inmediata» de los rehenes capturados en Israel por parte de la organización terrorista Hamás.
«Pido que los rehenes sean liberados de inmediato», declaró el sumo pontífice. «Sigo con dolor y preocupación lo que está sucediendo en Israel y Palestina y tantas personas muertas y heridas. Rezo por las familias que vieron transformarse un día de fiesta en un día de luto», dijo al final de la audiencia general en la plaza de San Pedro del Vaticano en declaraciones recogidas por la agencia Efe y Afp.
«El terrorismo y los extremismos no contribuyen a lograr una solución al conflicto entre israelíes y palestinos, sino que alimentan el odio, la violencia y la venganza, y hacen sufrir a unos y otros», destacó ante los fieles de varios países.
El número de fallecidos en Israel por el ataque sorpresa del sábado del movimiento islamista Hamás superó este miércoles los 1.200 y los heridos superan los 3.000, mientras que los bombardeos israelíes en Gaza han causado ya 1.055 muertos y al menos 5.184 heridos.
