ONU condena los insultos a Javon East en clásico realizado en el Morera Soto
La Organización pide que se lleven a cabo estrategias para prevenir el racismo en el deporte.
El acto de racismo que se vivió durante el pasado clásico nacional entre Liga Deportiva Alajuelense y el Deportivo Saprissa, donde algunos seguidores de la Liga dirigieron expresiones racistas hacia el jugador morado Javon East, atrajo la atención de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU).
La organización emitió un comunicado en el que condenó enfáticamente estos eventos y urgió a la aplicación de la legislación en vigor como respuesta.
“Estos actos ocurridos a tan solo unos días de la conmemoración del Día Internacional de la Personas Afrodescendientes, nos hace recordar que el racismo es un problema sistémico que necesita ser erradicado de raíz”, agrega el pronunciamiento.
El organismo internacional instó a jugadores, afición deportiva, equipos, autoridades y dirigencias deportivas a asegurar “CERO TOLERANCIA al racismo” y a la vez que se aplique la legislación vigente, Ley contra la violencia y el racismo en el deporte, N° 9878 del 12 de agosto del 2020, para hacer frente a estas desafortunadas situaciones.
Los manudos anunciaron que apelarán la decisión del Tribunal.
