Caen 61 mil rayos por tormenta eléctrica en la India; reportan 12 muertos
En India, las autoridades han alertado por la frecuente caída de rayos durante las temporadas de lluvias; este fenómeno es cada vez más común en la región.
¡Impresionante! La caída de más de 61 mil rayos durante una tormenta que se prolongó por tres horas dejó como saldo 12 muertos y 14 heridos en el estado de Odisha, al este de la India, confirmó la Autoridad de Gestión de Desastres.
El mayor número de muertes, según el reporte de la Organización de Ayuda Especial de Odisha, se registraron en el distrito de Khordha, con cuatro, dos en Balangir y una más en las regiones de Angul, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur y Puri, respectivamente.

India prevé semana de tormentas
El Departamento Meteorológico de la India (IMD) informó que, para esta semana, prevé que algunas regiones del país registren tormentas prolongadas, las cuales podrían generar inundaciones, por lo que pidió extremar precauciones y resguardarse para evitar que los rayos alcancen a los ciudadanos.
Esta condición, según el Departamento, podría extenderse hasta el 7 de septiembre, fecha en que las precipitaciones podrían descender por unos días.
“Los rayos se han convertido en algo común debido al intenso calor y al alto contenido de humedad en el aire, causados por el avance del aire desde la Bahía de Bengala. Las intensas olas de calor junto con otros cambios climáticos han intensificado los rayos…. Un flujo repentino de humedad desde Bengala ha provocado el (reciente) aumento de los rayos en Odisha”, explicó el Departamento Meteorológico de la India.

Rayos, fenómeno común en la India
En la India, los rayos son considerados como un fenómeno común que, al año, dejan más de 2 mil 500 personas muertas, según un informe de Lightning Resilient India Campaign, una organización que trabaja para el gobierno de ese país realizando campañas para prevenir y concientizar sobre los riesgos de estos eventos.
En los últimos años, esta organización también ha constatado que en la región es cada vez más frecuente que se registren condiciones climáticas extremas que van desde inundaciones, temporadas de calor extremo y hasta frío intenso.
