Papa Francisco otorga reconocimiento a universidad privada de Costa Rica
Institución fue incluida en un grupo de 54 universidades a nivel mundial a las que la Santa Sede otorgó el codiciado título de “Reconocida” o “Pontificia”.
En un emocionante hito para la educación superior nacional, la Universidad Católica de Costa Rica (UCAT) fue incluida en un selecto grupo de 54 universidades a nivel mundial a las que la Santa Sede ha otorgado el codiciado título de “Reconocida” o “Pontificia”.
El Dicasterio para la Cultura y la Educación ha emitido decretos que establecen la Erección Canónica de la Universidad y la aprobación de sus estatutos, marcando un nuevo capítulo en la historia educativa de Costa Rica.
Fernando Sánchez, rector del centro de estudios superiores, expresó su emoción por alcanzar un sueño que ha estado presente desde la fundación de la universidad. De acuerdo con Sánchez, este reconocimiento fortalece el compromiso con la excelencia académica y el humanismo que guía su labor diaria en la formación integral de los estudiantes y la promoción de la cultura en Costa Rica y más allá.
La universidad, que ofrece 39 carreras en cuatro sedes diferentes, incluyendo Moravia, San Carlos, Nicoya y Ciudad Neily, celebró el hecho de que sus programas podrán ser evaluados internacionalmente por la Agencia de la Santa Sede para la Evaluación y Promoción de la Calidad de las Universidades y Facultades Eclesiásticas (AVEPRO).
El solemne acto de reconocimiento será presidido por el Señor Nuncio Apostólico, Mons. Bruno Musarò, y tendrá lugar el próximo martes 5 de setiembre a las 6:00 p.m. en el Auditorio San José, en la Sede Central de la UCAT, en Moravia.
Según el Dicasterio para la Cultura y la Educación de la Santa Sede, este reconocimiento lleva consigo un compromiso más estrecho con el Romano Pontífice, exigiendo a la institución ser fiel a su identidad católica y a su misión evangelizadora a través de la educación y la investigación.
