Alcaldesa de Tampa halló 32 kilos de cocaína flotando en el mar mientras disfrutaba un día de pesca
Lo que creyó era un banco de peces, resultó ser una carga avaluada en más de un millón de dólares. Treinta años de carrera en la Policía le permitieron a la alcaldesa de Tampa no perder a su presa inerte.
En Florida, Estados Unidos, la alcaldesa de Tampa, la demócrata Jane Castor, halló 70 libras (casi 32 kilos) de cocaína flotando en el mar cuando disfrutaba de un día de pesca con su familia, según informaron medios de la zona.
Castor, que antes de ser alcaldesa fue policía durante 30 años, estaba cerca de Marathon, una de las islas de los Cayos de Florida, Estados Unidos, cuando ella y sus familiares avistaron una mancha negra que pensaron que era un banco de peces y resultó ser un fardo de plástico con «ladrillos» de cocaína en su interior.
En el relato de la alcaldesa de Florida, esta dijo que junto a su familia cargó el paquete, del tamaño de un microondas, en el barco. Bajo capas de film plástico se veían fardos apretados.
La alcaldesa de Tampa guardó la ubicación del hallazgo en su reloj y llamó a la oficina del sheriff del condado de Monroe.
Junto a un mensaje donde detallaba la incautación de 70 libras de cocaína, Walter N. Slosar, de la Patrulla Fronteriza, publicó una foto con el alijo. Se trata de 25 fardos cubiertos cada uno con el dibujo de una mariposa.
