Singapur ejecuta al tercer preso por narcotráfico en poco más de una semana
En total, cinco presos han sido ejecutados en Singapur desde abril por delitos de drogas, según cálculos de ONG, y 16 desde marzo de 2022, a pesar de los llamados por parte de organizaciones como la ONU.
Singapur ejecutó este jueves a un preso por traficar con alrededor de 54 gramos de heroína, la tercera ejecución en la isla desde el pasado miércoles, en un nuevo repunte de los ajusticiamientos por delitos relacionados con drogas.
Según confirmó en un comunicado la Oficina Central de Narcóticos de la ciudad-Estado asiática, Mohamed Shalleh Bin Adul Lattif, singapurense de 39 años, fue ejecutado hoy, tras ser condenado a muerte por «tener en posesión, con el propósito de traficar con ello, no menos de 54,04 gramos de diamorfina (heroína)».
Dos días después, el pasado viernes, las autoridades isleñas ejecutaron a la singapurense Saridewi Djamani por traficar con alrededor de 30 gramos de heroína, convirtiéndose en la primera mujer en ser ejecutada en casi dos décadas.

La ONU pidió a Singapur sin éxito detener la ejecución.
La próspera nación, con uno de los PIB per cápita más altos del planeta, contempla la pena de muerte para un mínimo de 500 gramos de tráfico de marihuana y 15 gramos de heroína y emplea la horca como método de ejecución, en procedimientos altamente opacos.
Tras un parón de las ejecuciones durante dos años por la pandemia de COVID-19, Singapur batió récords el año pasado ahorcando en pocos meses a once presos, incluyendo un traficante de heroína con discapacidad intelectual.
«El castigo capital es parte de la estrategia de prevención de Singapur para abordar tanto la demanda como el suministro de drogas», alega el comunicado de hoy de la Oficina de Narcóticos.
