Triste final para “Rogelio”: jaguar muere tras ser atropellado en la Ruta 1
Este es el sexto jaguar que pierde la vida en las carreteras que atraviesan el Área de Conservación Guanacaste.
El pasado sábado 17 de junio 2023 murió atropellado un jaguar (Panthera onca) en la Ruta 1 en los trece kilómetros que dividen los Parques Nacionales Santa Rosa y Guanacaste del Área de Conservación Guanacaste, específicamente antes del cruce a la entrada de Cuajiniquil.
Así lo dio a conocer el Área de Conservación Guanacaste (ACG) por medio de un comunicado de prensa.
Este jaguar el cual era un macho joven, sano, de aproximadamente 50 kilos, estaba siendo monitoreado por un proyecto de investigación y había sido identificado como “Rogelio” por el investigador Luis Fonseca. Durante el año 2022 fue registrado en varios sitios del ACG.
Este es el sexto jaguar que pierde su vida en las carreteras que atraviesan el ACG.
Para este 2023, al día de hoy se han registrado muertos en las carreteras de Costa Rica 30 felinos, y este sábado otro jaguar se suma a la lista.
“Es urgente la aplicación de medidas ambientales para disminuir el impacto de las carreteras sobre la fauna silvestre y que los conductores hagan conciencia y disminuyan la velocidad cuando transitan por áreas protegidas o zonas boscosas”, indicó la entidad.
