El TEC elige, por primera vez, a una mujer en su rectoría: María Estrada Sánchez
Es la primera vez que una mujer estará en el puesto de la Rectoría en casi 52 años de historia de la institución.
La máster María Estrada Sánchez, ingeniera en computación de profesión, se convertirá en la primera mujer en ser rectora del Tecnológico de Costa Rica (TEC).
Estrada obtuvo el 45,51% de los votos electorales en la elección para el puesto de la Rectoría, realizada este jueves 25 de mayo por medio de plataforma de voto electrónico.
“Después de 52 años el Tecnológico de Costa Rica tiene por primera vez una rectora. Una mujer va a liderar la institución de ciencia y tecnología del país, una universidad pública que está lista para dar ese paso hacia el posicionamiento global. Una institución que está lista para construir los próximos 50 años, con diálogo, con compromiso, con todos los sectores, con todas las visiones, para asegurar que sea una Institución más segura, más inclusiva y sostenible“, comentó Estrada.
De 46 años de edad, Estrada es actualmente Vicerrectora de Docencia del TEC y ha desarrollado numerosas labores de docencia, investigación y administración dentro de la institución.

La juramentación se realizará el próximo 29 de junio y Estrada asumirá funciones el 1.° de julio de este año. Su periodo culmina el 30 de junio de 2027.
