Rodrigo Chaves nombra a Mario Zamora como ministro de Seguridad
El nuevo jerarca aseguró que enfocará su gestión en el ataque al sicariato.
Este miércoles, el presidente de la República Rodrigo Chaves Robles juramentó como nuevo ministro de Seguridad a Mario Zamora Cordero.
El funcionario, que ya estuvo en el cargo entre el 2011 y el 2014, sustituye a Jorge Torres, quien asumirá un puesto en la Dirección de Inteligencia y Seguridad (DIS).
“Tengo que empezar a trabajar de manera inmediata e instantánea. Lo primero son las acciones operativas y dentro del plan que hemos hablado con el señor presidente, estamos hablando de una revisión de la meta estratégica”, declaró Zamora a un grupo de periodistas tras finalizar la conferencia de prensa posterior al Consejo de Gobierno en la que se confirmó su designación.
“Sabemos que esencialmente se atacaba el narcomenudeo, no es que estamos abandonándolo, pero la focalización y la centralización del trabajo es la reducción de los homicidios, enfocándonos en los grupos que ejercen sicariato”, agregó.
Trayectoria
En la administración de Laura Chinchilla Miranda fue ministro de Seguridad.
Además, se desempeñó como jefe de despacho de la exdefensora, Catalina Crespo.
