Krispy Kreme abrirá su primer local en Costa Rica en mayo próximo. La multinacional dedicada a la venta de donas anunció la noticia a través de sus redes sociales y se ubicará en las inmediaciones del Centro Comercial La Paco, en San Rafael de Escazú. La sucursal cuenta con 501 metros cuadrados y Krispy Kreme ya prepara su llegada al país con una campaña de expectativa en la que regalará 2.000 medias docenas en Avenida Escazú este viernes.
La llegada de Krispy Kreme se anunció por primera vez en el 2016, cuando se informó sobre la idea de abrir 10 tiendas en el país en un periodo de cinco años. Sin embargo, la empresa no concretó su llegada a suelo nacional. En junio del 2022, la marca incluyó nuevamente a Costa Rica como uno de los destinos para sus planes de expansión a través de un documento publicado en el sitio Business Wire, en donde se presentaron los resultados a los inversionistas de la marca.
“El crecimiento del mercado y de los consumidores, así como la rápida demanda de Costa Rica por los dulces, hace que este sea el momento perfecto para Krispy Kreme para expandirse en el país”, comentó Dan Beem, vocera de Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc., en un comunicado de la firma publicado en su sitio web durante ese 2016.
Krispy Kreme entrará a competir en el mercado costarricense que cuenta con la presencia de empresas como Doña Dona. La empresa opera en más de 30 países, incluyendo Estados Unidos, Reino Unido, Australia, Canadá, México y Guatemala. La casa matriz de la empresa se encuentra en Winston-Salem, Carolina del Norte, y fue fundada en 1937.
Aunque se desconoce la inversión que se está realizando en Costa Rica, la municipalidad de Escazú informó que la multinacional obtuvo el permiso de construcción en 2019, con una modificación solicitada en este 2023.
