Pese a nuevos tumores, Gerardo Zamora no será sometido a otra operación ni radioterapias
Ginnés Rodríguez contó que de momento el periodista no se someterá a operaciones ni radioterapias por deterioro en la piel de la cara.
El periodista Gerardo Zamora se enfrenta una vez más a una dura prueba: nuevos tumores se alojaron en su cabeza. Así lo confirmó su esposa, Ginnés Rodríguez.
En entrevista con diario La Teja, Ginnés, contó que Gerardo lucha contra varios tumores que han aparecido en diferentes partes de su cabeza en las últimas semanas. Pese a ello, el periodista no será sometido a otra operación ni radioterapias pues luego de ocho intervenciones quirúrgicas la piel de la cara ha sufrido un deterioro.
Desde entonces, por más operaciones y radioterapias que ha recibido, los meningiomas siguen apareciendo.
El caso de Gerardo es atípico, porque comúnmente estos tumores, llamados meningiomas tipo 3, cuando se operan no vuelven a molestar y son de crecimiento muy lento.
“No vendrá una nueva operación. En este momento las operaciones quedan solamente para un tema de emergencia, un tema de funcionalidad o que esté estorbando tanto el tumor que haya que retirarlo. Por ejemplo, en diciembre pasado fue por un tema que ni siquiera se le sostenían los anteojos, entonces se lo retiraron.
El doctor nos dijo que ahora tenemos que ser más reservados con las cirugías porque, primero, la conducta de este tumor es que se opera y en tres meses está, entonces es someter a la piel a un riesgo por infección. Además ya es una piel que ha sido bastante intervenida, no es conveniente sobre todo cuando ya no es algo definitivo sino algo realmente momentáneo. O sea, esas operaciones se convierten en una especie de curita, pero al final de cuentas no son la solución.
La radioterapia tampoco es una opción porque ya Gera obtuvo el tope máximo que pude recibir una persona y ya someterlo a otra radiación implicaría una sobredosis y más bien podría hacerle más daño que bien”, declaró la presentadora de Informe 11, Las Historias a La Teja.
Rodríguez contó al rotativo que Gerardo aplicó para ser tomado en cuenta en un ensayo clínico que realizan en la Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, en Boston, Estados Unidos en el que los investigadores trabajan sobre ciertos tipos de cáncer y empiezan a hacer ensayos clínicos para probar medicamentos que han sido probados por la FDA (Administración de Alimentos y Medicamentos de Estados Unidos) y que se aplican para otro tipo de tumores.
Zamora está a la espera de una respuesta, el ensayo inicia en junio próximo. El herediano ya pasó la primera parte de preselección y envió varios documentos como: la historia clínica del periodista, las biopsias del tumor, informes de patología para que los investigadores puedan analizar el caso.
Ginnés contó que su esposo se encuentra bien, solo que hay algunas cosas que han cambiado en los últimos meses. La parte de la visión, ha presentado un deterioro importante, ahora le cuesta ver más y necesita ayuda.
Todos estos cambios han generado un impacto emocional tanto en Gerardo como en su familia, por eso han tenido que pedir el apoyo de psiquiatras y psicólogos.
