“Él estaba terminando bachillerato, le faltaban tres materias”, madre de joven futbolista asesinado en Purral
El joven jugaba en el equipo Thunders de Heredia.
El pasado sábado 4 de marzo, el joven futbolista Kendall Rivas Munguía, de 24 años de edad, falleció tras ser atacado a balazos por la espalda, esto en Purral de Goicoechea.
La muerte del joven sacudió a los miembros de la la Liga Nacional de Fútbol Aficionado (Linafa) y a la Academia de Futbol Thunder de la provincia de Heredia, a la cual pertenecía Rivas.

Este lunes 6 de marzo, sus familiares, amigos y excompañeros de equipo se reunieron para darle el último adiós al joven que llevaba su nombre en honor a Kendall Waston, según contó la madre del fallecido, Karen Munguía, a Telenoticias.
“Me siento muy orgullosa de mi hijo porque amó mucho el fútbol, eso la aleja de cosas incorrectas en un barrio que no tiene mucha oportunidad, pero él las iba a buscar afuera, cuando nació, Kendall Waston era jovencito, entonces yo dije, que chiva ese nombre, siempre que veíamos jugar a Kendall yo le decía que le puse el nombre por él”, relató la madre del joven.
En cuanto a su faceta como futbolista, se desempeñaba como volante y delantero, y su entrenador Manuel Arroyo, pidió justicia, esto también en conversación con Telenoticias.
“Trataba muy bien a los compañeros, los motivaba, brindaba mucha alegría en el camerino, me queda la satisfacción que tuvo la experiencia de conocer a Yeltsin Tejeda, uno de sus ídolos, pido a las autoridades que traten de incentivar más el deporte”, dijo Arroyo.
Kendall, además, de jugar fútbol, también trabajaba como repartidor de comidas mediante plataformas digitales.
En cuanto a los motivos que originaron la muerte del joven de 24 años, aún son desconocidos, el caso se mantiene bajo investigación del Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ).
