Cráneo hallado en una olla pertenece a la joven Abby Choi
En una cocina también hallaron las piernas de Abby Choi, pero los investigadores aún siguen en la búsqueda de otras partes, como el torso y las manos.
La policía científica de Hong Kong anunció que las pruebas de ADN confirmaron que los restos humanos hallados en una casa a las afueras de la ciudad pertenecen a la popular modelo local Abby Choi, cuyo asesinato y descuartizamiento han conmocionado a la excolonia británica.
Los restos identificados son un cráneo -que apareció dentro de una olla sopera- y dos piernas, mientras las fuerzas de seguridad continúan tratando de localizar y recuperar otras partes del cuerpo de la joven, de 28 años, como el torso y las manos, recoge el diario South China Morning Post.
El exmarido de Abby Choi y los padres y hermano de esta se encuentran en prisión preventiva y sin fianza desde la semana pasada, acusados de asesinato y de pervertir el curso de la justicia.
También ha sido detenido un trabajador de una empresa de yates que supuestamente intentó ayudar al exmarido de la víctima a escapar desde Hong Kong hacia Macao a cambio de 300.000 dólares hongkoneses (38.200 dólares estadounidenses, 35.900 euros).
El fiscal superior del tribunal que instruye el caso, Brian Lai Tak-ki, ha solicitado un aplazamiento de 10 semanas para proseguir la investigación, incluidos los exámenes forenses de las pruebas incautadas en la vivienda donde se encontraron los restos y un seguimiento de los registros de conversaciones de móvil de los acusados.
Abby Choi fue dada por desaparecida el pasado 21 de febrero y dos días después un equipo forense encontró dentro del frigorífico de una vivienda a las afueras de Hong Kong las piernas de una mujer, a lo que siguió el hallazgo de un cráneo, varias costillas y pelo inmersos dentro de una gran olla con caldo y verduras.
La vivienda había sido alquilada recientemente por el ex suegro de Choi, al que la investigación apunta como presunto cerebro del complot para asesinarla a causa de una disputa sobre una propiedad valorada en millones de dólares, según la prensa local.
En el lugar aparecieron también una cortadora de carne, una sierra eléctrica y algunas prendas supuestamente relacionadas con el caso.
Abby Choi, que contaba con casi 100.000 seguidores en Instagram, se había dado a conocer internacionalmente como modelo, llegando a participar en el desfile de alta costura primavera-verano 2023 de Elie Saab en París y a aparecer recientemente en la portada digital de la lujosa revista ‘L’Officiel Monaco’.

La modelo tenía un patrimonio neto de unos 100 millones de dólares de Hong Kong (12 millones de euros, 12.7 millones de dólares estadounidenses) y procedía de una familia adinerada con negocios en China, de acuerdo a la prensa local.
