Mujer que empujó a una ciclista y provocó su muerte fue enviada a la cárcel
Su condena será de tres años en la cárcel por homicidio involuntario. Los jueces aseguran que la reacción de la peatona al encontrarse con la pedalista fue desmedida.
Los hechos se presentaron en Huntingdon, Reino Unido, cuando una mujer de 49 años identificada como Auriol Gray fue captada por un circuito cerrado de televisión en el momento en el que enojada, insulta y mueve sus brazos agresivamente a otra mujer de 77 años identificada como Celia Ward, quien se le estaba acercando en su bicicleta.
Al momento en el que las dos mujeres se cruzan, Auriol, molesta porque la ciclista estaba sobre el andén peatonal, la empuja, haciendo que Celia pierda el control y caiga en la vía por dónde pasan algunos carros, siendo embestida por uno de estos vehículos. Celia fue declarada muerta.
Auriol Gray fue sentenciada a tres años en prisión, luego de que un juez del Tribunal de la corona de Peterborough dijera que las acciones cometidas por esta mujer “no se explican por su discapacidad”, pues el abogado de Auriol alegaba que la mujer tenía parálisis cerebral, lo que la hacía parcialmente ciega. Además, ese mismo juez explicó que por el andén en el que estaba transitando era un camino compartido por ciclistas y peatones.

A pesar de que para los jueces Auriol no fue honesta en su testimonio de los hechos y no mostraba ningún arrepentimiento, pues luego del accidente la mujer de 49 años se fue de la escena sin esperar a las autoridades y se dirigió a un supermercado a comprar víveres, la defensa de la mujer aseguró que se encontraba devastada por su condena.
“Ella está conmocionada y devastada por el resultado. Su abogado había tratado desesperadamente de sacarla bajo fianza durante un proceso de apelación, pero fue una solicitud fallida”, explicó Miranda Moore, defensora de Auriol.
Entre tanto, el viudo de Celia Ward se manifestó en un comunicado, leído frente al tribunal por el fiscal Simon Spence. Se refirió al dolor que siente por la perdida de su esposa y que los últimos momentos de vida, registrados en cámaras de seguridad, lo perseguirán para siempre.
