Un antropólogo de la Universidad de Oxford encontró los siete valores que definen a una buena persona de verdad en todo el mundo.
Una buena persona, ¿nace o se hace? Es una pregunta que se han hecho grandes pensadores de la Historia, de John Locke a David Hume. ¿Ser una buena persona significa lo mismo en todas las culturas? ¿De dónde vienen las normas que nos llevan a comportarnos de una determinada manera? También aparecieron todas estas cuestiones en un debate que planteó el antropólogo Oliver Scott Curry en la Universidad de Oxford, y que le animó a realizar un estudio.
Curry, ahora miembro del Instituto de Antropología Evolutiva y Cognitiva del mismo centro, ha publicado su investigación en la revista Current Anthropology, y su abordaje es tan amplio y universal que lo sorprenderá. ¿Qué define a una buena persona «de verdad»? Para ello, se ha acercado a lo que entendemos por moralidad, lo que nos conduce a obrar bien o mal según unos valores superiores, en 60 tipos de sociedades diferentes de todo el planeta. Si cumples los siguientes requisitos, eres una buena persona en cualquier lugar del mundo:
- Ayudas a tu familia
- Ayudas a tu comunidad
- Devuelves los favores
- Eres valiente
- Respetas a tus superiores
- Divides los recursos de forma justa
- Respetas los bienes de los demás
