Tragedia en Panamá: Autobús con destino a Costa Rica choca y deja 33 personas muertas
Se han confirmado 33 pasajeros muertos, que venían de Panamá a Costa Rica.
Un autobús que transportaba migrantes se accidentó tras caer a un precipicio en una carretera de Panamá durante la madrugada de este miércoles. El hecho dejó al menos 39 personas fallecidas, según las autoridades locales.
De acuerdo con las autoridades que llegaron al lugar, el autobús se dirigía con destino a Costa Rica. El accidente ocurrió en Gualaca, un corregimiento en la provincia panameña de Chiquirí.
No obstante, tras los más recientes informes, el mandatario de Panamá no tardó en pronunciarse a través de su cuenta de Twitter, en donde aseguró que el número de decesos habría aumentado.
“Con profundo pesar informo al país que han aumentado las víctimas fatales, producto del lamentable accidente de tránsito en Gualaca, Chiriquí. Los equipos de Gobierno trabajan arduamente en el lugar brindando asistencia médica a los sobrevivientes de esta tragedia”.
Además, el presidente Cortizo expresó su solidaridad con los familiares de las víctimas. “El Gobierno Nacional extiende sus condolencias a los familiares de los fallecidos en este accidente, y reitera su compromiso con seguir brindando ayuda humanitaria y condiciones dignas para enfrentar la migración irregular”.
Es importante aclarar que el autobús trasladaba migrantes desde el Darién, la zona selvática que limita con Colombia, hacia el paso fronterizo con Costa Rica para que continuaran viaje hacia el norte.
El jefe de operaciones de tránsito de la Policía, comisionado Emiliano Otero, informó que “en el bus se encontraban 66 pasajeros, entre los cuales se incluye al chofer y el ayudante”.
Según los informes oficiales, por ahora se desconocen las causas exactas del accidente y las nacionalidades de los ocupantes del bus.
