EE.UU. derriba objeto no identificado en Alaska con un avión de combate F-22

El Departamento de Defensa de los Estados Unidos, con sede en el Pentágono ofreció una conferencia de prensa en la que informó que la fuerza aérea derribó un objeto no identificado sobre las aguas congeladas alrededor de Alaska, el viernes por orden del presidente Biden, menos de una semana después de que un avión de combate estadounidense derribara un globo espía chino sobre el Atlántico en un episodio que aumentó las tensiones entre Washington y Beijing.
Funcionarios estadounidenses dijeron que no podían confirmar de inmediato si el objeto era un globo, pero viajaba a una altitud que lo convertía en una amenaza potencial para los aviones civiles. John F. Kirby, un portavoz de la Casa Blanca, dijo que Biden ordenó derribar el objeto no identificado cerca de Alaska «por precaución».
Funcionarios del Pentágono dijeron que pudieron derribar inmediatamente el objeto sobre el agua, por lo que pudieron evitar fácilmente el dilema planteado por el globo espía que se desplazaba sobre áreas pobladas, lo que había llevado a los comandantes a recomendar a Biden que esperara para derribar la máquina en para evitar cualquier posibilidad de que los escombros golpeen a las personas en el suelo.
Los funcionarios estadounidenses dijeron que hasta el viernes por la noche, el gobierno no sabía quién era el propietario o quién envió el objeto visto sobre Alaska que, al igual que el globo chino la semana pasada, fue derribado por un avión de combate F-22 utilizando un Sidewinder air-to-misil de aire.
