El puerto regresa a la primera división del Baloncesto Nacional
Los porteños tenían más de 10 años de no participar en la liga superior del baloncesto de Costa Rica.
La Liga Superior de Baloncesto de Costa Rica (LBS), tiene un nuevo inquilino y se trata nada más y nada menos que el equipo de la provincia de Puntarenas, Los Pelícanos PFC Basketball, el cual el día de ayer por medio de redes sociales, hizo oficial su incorporación al baloncesto nacional, luego de que fueran aprobados oficialmente por la Federación Costarricense de Baloncesto (FECOBA), el pasado 3 de enero.
Según trascendió este nuevo proyecto, es parte de la organización deportiva que están construyendo los hermanos Medina dueños del Puntarenas FC, que, además, del fútbol, cuenta con otras disciplinas deportivas, que apoyan a la juventud puntarenense.
Puntarenas a lo largo de los años se ha caracterizado por ser semillero de deportistas y sobre todo de generaciones de jugadores de baloncesto que han destacado tanto a nivel nacional como internacional.
Una de las novedades que presenta el equipo para este arranque en la primera división, es la incorporación de los hermanos Shedden, David, Daniel y Jorge, quienes dejaron el Tri-Campeón Nacional Escazú, para así jugar en su natal Puntarenas.
En cuanto al entrenador de Los Pelícanos, trascendió que se trata del experimentado Rodolfo “Fito” Fonseca Campos, quien tenía años de no dirigir en suelo costarricense siendo su último equipo nacional “El Liceo de Costa Rica”, pero tal parece que decidió volver a las canchas nacionales para así aportar su conocimiento a la nueva escuadra puntarenense.
Grijalba, por su parte comentó que el pueblo porteño está bastante ilusionado con el equipo y ansiosos de que el torneo arranque para así asistir a las gradas del Gimnasio Municipal a apoyar al equipo.
