¿Saben cuántas piñas de tamales se consumen en Costa Rica en la época navideña? ¡Son muchísimas!
Los tamales son una de las tradiciones que los costarricenses tienen para navidad.
Cuando llega diciembre son muchas las familias costarricenses que se reúnen como tradición para elaborar los famosos tamales, y también están los que esperan todo el año para darse el gustito navideño.
Y es que según informó por medio de un comunicado la Cámara Costarricense de Porcicultores y Animal Health en América Central, Caribe y Ecuador (CENCAEC), en Costa Rica se consumen un promedio, de nada más y nada menos que 196 millones de piñas de tamales en la época navideña, siendo una tradición que se vive en un 62% de los hogares costarricenses.
“La carne de cerdo se comienza a utilizar, principalmente, por sus facilidades de producción y por la riqueza proteica que brinda a las personas.
Disminuir la cantidad de grasa para la preparación de la masa y usar cortes magros, como la posta para el relleno, pueden significar un valioso aporte nutricional de proteínas, vitaminas y minerales, dentro de un delicioso y añorado platillo como lo es el tamal”, expresó Akemi Valencia, Directora de la Unidad de Negocios de Porcicultura de MSD Animal Health.
Y es que sin duda que es una cantidad impresionante, dejando claro que los tamales son de los favoritos de los ticos y ticas, quienes aprovechan estás épocas para comerse unos cuantos y, además, demuestra que se han convertido en una tradición y parte de la cultura de nuestro país.
“El tamal ocupa un lugar especial en la mesa de las familias costarricenses. Cada familia en Costa Rica tiene su versión propia del tamal. En lo que todas o la mayoría coincide es que el ingrediente principal es la carne de cerdo, entonces podemos decir que no hay tamal rico sin cerdo”, expresó Luis Diego Rojas, presidente de la Cámara Costarricense de Porcicultores, en el comunicado.
