Rodrigo Chaves condecora a fundadora de Canal 7 con medalla al mérito en la Paz y Democracia
El mandatario reconoce a doña Olga Cozza de Picado por su aporte a la prensa y al fortalecimiento de la democracia.
El presidente de la República, Rodrigo Chaves, anunció este miércoles que condecorará con la medalla al Mérito en la Paz y en la Democracia a Olga Cozza de Picado, presidenta de Televisora de Costa Rica, por su aporte a la prensa y al fortalecimiento de la democracia.
Este es un reconocimiento para aquellas personas o instituciones que son ejemplo de compromiso con los valores y principios que caracterizan a nuestro país.
“La decisión de otorgar esta condecoración a doña Olga, de 85 años, se sustenta en su compromiso de más de 6 décadas liderando el primer canal de televisión fundado en Costa Rica”, indicó Casa Presidencial en un comunicado de prensa.
“El presidente de la República reconoce en doña Olga una mujer visionaria que junto a su familia fundó hace más de 60 años, un emprendimiento tecnológico que hoy es referente nacional y que demuestra el aporte de la prensa al fortalecimiento de la democracia. Mérito a doña Olga Cozza de Picado, que su esfuerzo siga contribuyendo a que la próxima generación crezca en un país mejor”, agrega el boletín.
La entrega oficial de la medalla será parte de las actividades conmemorativas del aniversario número 74 de la Abolición del Ejército.
Teletica Canal 7 fue fundada el 9 de mayo de 1960 por René Picado Esquivel y Carlos Manuel Reyes.
Don René Picado falleció en 1969 por lo que doña Olga “asumió el reto de agarrar el timón de esta empresa nacional hasta convertirse, con el paso de los años, en una de las líderes de comunicación en Centroamérica”, informó Teletica.
