Se eleva a 146 la cifra de fallecidos tras estampida en fiesta de Halloween en Seúl
Continúa elevándose la cifra de fallecidos tras la estampida en Seúl, durante las celebraciones por Halloween, de acuerdo a las autoridades surcoreanas, quienes además reportaron 150 heridos.
Al menos 146 personas fallecieron y otras 150 resultaron heridas en el barrio de Itaewon, el punto más concurrido para celebrar Hallowen en Seúl, luego de una estampida en las cercanías del Hotel Hamilton, frente a la estación de metro.
En redes sociales, cientos de videos muestran a los equipos de emergencia practicando maniobras de resucitación sobre decenas de personas en las calles después de que el presidente surcoreano, Yoon Suk-yeol, había ordenado ejecutar una operación de emergencia para suministrar primeros auxilios.
Una presunta estampida tuvo lugar a las 11.30 p. m. (hora local) del sábado, en las cercanías del Hotel Hamilton, frente a la estación de metro de Itaewon. En este punto colindante con una base militar estadounidense, cada año, se reúnen para celebrar Hallowen en Seúl.
De acuerdo a testigos citados por medios surcoreanos, el incidente ocurrió en un callejón en pendiente y aledaño al mencionado hotel. Una caída colectiva se produjo en el punto más alto, lo que provocó un desmoronamiento en cadena.
Las imágenes publicadas en redes sociales muestran a un gran número de gente atrapada en un callejón mientras los equipos de emergencia tratan de evacuar a algunos de ellos.
Los heridos han sido trasladados a diferentes hospitales de la capital surcoreana. Cada año, el barrio de Itaewon, colindante con una base militar estadounidense, se convierte en el punto más concurrido para celebrar Hallowen en Seúl, y, según medios locales, miles de personas se habían congregado este sábado 29 en la zona.
“Hasta las 2.30 a. m., 120 murieron y 100 resultaron heridos”, informó Choi Sung-bum, un funcionario del departamento de bomberos, a los periodistas en el lugar de los hechos. “El elevado número de víctimas se debió a que muchos fueron pisoteados durante el evento de Halloween”, afirmó. Él añadió que la cifra podría aumentar con el pasar de las horas.
En un primer momento, los bomberos locales habían informado a la agencia de noticias Yonhap que alrededor de 50 personas estaban siendo atendidas después de sufrir paros cardíacos.
