A sus 70 años, sancarleño cumple su sueño de graduarse de la UCR
Nunca es tarde para cumplir un sueño. Y eso le consta a don Luis Vicente Miranda Bermúdez.
Nunca es tarde para cumplir un sueño. Y eso le consta a don Luis Vicente Miranda Bermúdez quien el martes anterior, a sus 70 años, obtuvo el título de Bachillerato en Inglés a Distancia expedido por la Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR).
Según recoge una nota del medio San Carlos Digital, quien dio a conocer la historia, don Luis, quien es docente de profesión, es un amante del estudio por eso decidió iniciar a estudiar inglés hace 13 años cuando la UCR abrió el curso.
“Empecé a llevarlo, uno iba una semana a clases y la otra semana recibía virtual, ahí me quedé pero no era la prioridad por mi edad y entonces a veces no matriculaba porque también tenía que atender mis responsabilidades. Al final, por ser persistente terminé el curso y me gradué”, declaró Miranda Bermúdez al medio.
De hecho don Luis, quien es este vecino de barrio San Martín en Ciudad Quesada, fue pionero en la enseñanza del inglés en algunos centros universitarios del cantón, aunque en aquél momento lo hacía de forma empírica y por inopia.
Para Miranda su historia es un ejemplo de que sí se puede y espera servir de motivación para muchas personas.
“Esto es demostrar que los mitos de la vejez no son ciertos. Dicen que los viejos no sirven para nada pero, está demostrado en la sociedad que los viejos somos útiles. La idea es nunca permitir que los mitos o creencias negativas de la edad avanzada se hagan realidad en nuestras vidas”, dijo el recién graduado.
Superó obstáculos y luchó por sus sueños
A los 14 años don Luis empezó su vida laboral, finalizó sus estudios de secundaria en un colegio nocturno y cursó un poco de la carrera de Agronomía en una escuela que funcionó por seis años. Los conocimientos que adquirió le sirvieron para laborar como vendedor de productos veterinarios.
Luego trabajó en una finca bananera y en 1977 comenzó a trabajar como profesor de la asignatura de Agricultura en el colegio de Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí.
Con el tiempo se tituló en educación primaria y currículo. Se mantuvo en ese centro educativo por un espacio de 15 años. Luego su madre de crianza se enfermó, esto lo obligó a mudarse a Ciudad Quesada.
“No hay problema con las canas si uno se lo propone. Como dicen los Proverbios 16:31, Las canas son una corona espléndida llena de gloria” , finalizó don Luis.
