Retiran 23 lentes de contacto de los ojos de una mujer: no sabía que tenía que quitárselos
En principio, la paciente tenía visión borrosa, pero lo que más le molestaba era el dolor.
“No duerma con sus lentes de contacto puestos”, advirtió una oftalmóloga en la red social TikTok tras recibir en su consultorio a una mujer con una complicada situación ocular. Con este impactante video que compartió en la plataforma, quiere hacer hincapié sobre la responsabilidad que se debe tener frente a ellos.
Los lentes representan una solución para aquellos con miopía o astigmatismo; les permiten sentirse más cómodos sin tener que soportar todos los días el peso de las gafas. Para algunos netamente es un tema de vanidad, pero otros agradecen su existencia.
“Nunca había visto algo así”
¿Qué pasa cuando no se tienen los cuidados pertinentes? Una grave afectación podría nublar su vista como le ocurrió a una mujer de 70 años que se durmió con varios de ellos. No fueron uno, ni dos, ni tres. En total, 23 lentes yacían en la cuenca de sus ojos.
“Llegó a mi consultorio y dijo que sentía algo en el ojo que no podía sacar. Aunque les pedimos a las personas mayores que vengan una vez al año para hacerse chequeos, esta mujer se había saltado las citas y no había ido a la oficina en dos años”, comentó la doctora Katerina Kurteeva, de Newport Beach, California, en charla con el medio ‘Insider’.
En principio, la paciente tenía visión borrosa, pero lo que más le molestaba era el dolor. Kurteeva pensó que podría tratarse de un lente de contacto roto, una infección causada por el maquillaje u otra particularidad. Sin embargo, no estaba dentro de sus hipótesis que tal número de lentes estuviera resguardado.
Le aplicó anestesia y analizó detalladamente sus ojos hasta que vio algo extraño en el fórnix superior (una especie de bolsillo del párpado en el que se pueden “atascar las cosas”).
