Ministra de Educación, Giselle Cruz, dimite tras polémica por pruebas FARO
La viceministra académica, Melania Brenes, también presentó su renuncia.
La Ministra de Educación Pública, Giselle Cruz Maduro, renunció de manera irrevocable al cargo, en medio de la polémica que se desató desde el viernes anterior por el contenido de las preguntas del cuestionario denominado “Factores Asociados” de las pruebas FARO.
Cruz presentó la renuncia a su cargo a partir del lunes 15 de noviembre, la cual fue aceptada por el presidente de la República, Carlos Alvarado.
La viceministra académica, Melania Brenes Monge, también presentó la renuncia a su cargo y oportunamente se comunicará quien la sustituirá, así como la persona que asumirá el viceministerio administrativo.
El Presidente Alvarado agradeció el trabajo en el MEP tanto a Giselle Cruz como a Melania Brenes, y deseó el mayor éxito al nuevo Ministro al asumir el cargo.
Contexto
El viernes anterior el Ministerio de Educación Pública (MEP) aplicó a estudiantes de 5° grado de escuela el cuestionario denominado “Factores Asociados” como parte de las pruebas FARO.
Se trata de cuestionarios de más de 600 ítems en los cuales se le pregunta a los estudiantes por los factores sociales y educativos que podrían afectar su desempeño y resultados en las pruebas FARO.
La controversia surgió por la presencia de preguntas ajenas al campo académico. Por ejemplo, en el capítulo llamado Tronco Común, se les realizaron preguntas sobre el entorno familiar o socioeconómico como el tipo de material del techo, o pisos de la vivienda, los servicios que posee el hogar, los bienes que poseen y si la casa posee espacios exteriores
Según informaron varios padres de familia en redes sociales la ejecución de estos cuestionarios generó un agotamiento extremo en los alumnos quienes duraron hasta cinco horas para contestarlo.
