La música tica está de luto: A los 67 años fallece Dionisio Cabal
El folclorista murió por complicaciones asociadas a la Covid-19.
La mañana de este miércoles se confirmó el fallecimiento de la destacada figura de la música popular y escritor costarricense, Dionisio Cabal, a los 67 años por complicaciones asociadas a la Covid-19.
La noticia de su deceso fue confirmada por su pareja y asistente, Hazel Alejandra Murillo Quirós, así como su hijo, Antonio Cabal, por medio de las redes sociales.
Dionisio Cabal Antillón nació el 13 de agosto de 1954 en San José, hijo de los poetas Ana Antillón y Antidio Cabal.
Cabal se destacó como: cantautor, investigador de la cultura popular, director, guionista, productor de radio y televisión, estudiante de periodismo, historiador y filólogo autodidacta, activista y autor de libros de tradición costarricense.
Después inició su carrera como solista que lo llevó a representar al país en distintos festivales musicales en países como El Salvador, Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, Panamá, México y Estados Unidos.
Produjo más de 30 álbumes de estudio y la Asociación de Compositores y Autores Musicales (Acam) lo premió en varias categorías. Además en el año 2000 recibió el galardón Joaquín García Monge.
“Refranero de uso costarricense (2010)”, “Aguizotes: raíces mágicas de Costarrica (2011)”, “El vuelo a la libertad (2011)” y la obra literaria infantil “¿Qué tiene el rey en la panza?”, fueron parte de sus obras escritas.
