Tica con dolorosa enfermedad suplica que autoricen su eutanasia
“Me haría feliz saber que voy a dejar de sufrir”, aseguró Astrid Gramajo.
“El dolor que yo siento es extremo. Cuando me dan dolores me desmayo, me he desmayado muchas veces, me ponen morfina a veces no es suficiente una dosis. No es algo que uno se invente es algo que es real mi familia en los momentos en los que han estado conmigo lo han visto y ellos saben que los dolores son de muy difícil manejo”.
Con estas palabras comienza su testimonio, sentada en su silla de ruedas, Astrid Gramajo, una mujer costarricense de 46 años que sufre una enfermedad que ha ido deteriorando su cuerpo con un intenso dolor a nivel pélvico. Su historia la dio a conocer Noticias Telediario.
“En determinado momento estaba corriendo, lo que corría que eran tres días estaba corriendo como 25 kilómetros, y hubo un momento en que iba a mitad de la carrera y sentí un dolor. Ya no pude seguir tuve que llamar a la ambulancia y me dijeron ‘tiene una hernia inguinal’”, comentó la mujer.
“Me hicieron la primera cirugía en el hospital de San Ramón, Carlos Ruiz Valverde, y esa cirugía lamentablemente quedó mal la hernia estranguló, como dicen los médicos, y me tuvieron que operar una segunda vez, pero ya en esa segunda vez fue más invasivo me tuvieron que sacar un ovario. Mi caso fue del 1 % o 2 % de los casos que el dolor sube demasiado rápido y demasiado intenso”, agregó.
Pese al dolor que siente, Gramajo, ha visitado en varias ocasiones la Asamblea Legislativa para que los congresistas autoricen su muerte asistida. Pero sus esfuerzos no han tenido eco entre los legisladores.
“Yo me he ido a colocar afuera de la Asamblea Legislativa, lo he hecho en muy pocas ocaciones porque mi condición no me lo permite, me he ido a poner afuera con una pancarta en donde expreso mi deseo de que se apruebe la eutanasia o que por lo menos empiecen a dialogar sobre esta ley”, manifestó doña Astrid.
“Pero no pasa nada, o sea todo mundo pasa y solo me ve incluso hubo un señor que se acercó a decirme cosas feas cuando leyó la pancarta, otros pasan y siguen de lado pero de parte de los diputados la pueden leer pero no sucede nada”, añadió.
Gramajo, indicó que seguirá dando la lucha para que legalicen la eutanasia en Costa Rica para dejar de sufrir y poder morir dignamente.
“A mí me encantaría tener una muerte digna, por supuesto, porque es triste la situación, pero uno tiene que poner los pies sobre la tierra y si en realidad ya no hay nada que hacer y si yo voy a tener que seguir soportando estos dolores, salir a la calle con morfina en el bolso porque a cada ratito me va a dar dolor en la calle me voy a tener que inyectar porque no voy a poder dormir de tanto dolor y voy a pasar toda la noche gritando, uno no puede vivir así”, dijo.
“Y uno tiene que ser realista por duro, por doloroso que sea para mí y para mi familia, para mis hijos. Creo que es lo mejor porque es más digno que digan ya descansó”, añadió
Por último, doña Astrid indicó: “Creo que es importante que sepan que uno tiene que luchar por sus derechos, tiene que luchar por lo que uno cree y hacerlo valer y por ese motivo y por mi dignidad yo sí quiero la eutanasia, yo si estoy de acuerdo con la eutanasia y es lo que yo anhelo a mi me haría feliz saber que voy a dejar ya de sufrir contrario a lo que mucha gente cree”.
La eutanasia activa no está permitida en Costa Rica, se encuentra penalizada por medio del homicidio por piedad, regulado en el artículo 116 de Código Penal.
