Tasa de desempleo en Costa Rica se ubica en 17,4 % y afecta a 423 mil personas
La falta de trabajo golpea más a las mujeres, 232 mil no tienen empleo.
La tasa de desempleo en el país llegó al 17,4 % durante el trimestre que comprende mayo, junio y julio de este año, según datos de la más reciente Encuesta Continua de Empleo, revelada este jueves por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INEC).
Este porcentaje representa a 423 mil personas que continúan buscando trabajo en el país.
Las mujeres continúan teniendo un complicado panorama laboral en el país. Una situación que se ha venido agravando en el último año a raíz de la pandemia de la Covid-19: 232 mil se encuentran desempleadas contra 191 mil hombres.
La población con empleo se estimó en 2 millones, 1.3 millones hombres y 739 mil mujeres.
Las tres principales actividades por sexo, del total de hombres ocupados, 219 mil, se concentran en actividades de comercio y reparación (17,4 %); 197 mil a agricultura, ganadería y pesca (15,6 %); y 152 mil a la industria manufacturera (12,0 %).
En el caso de las mujeres, 137 mil se dedican a la enseñanza y salud (18,5 %); 109 mil al comercio y reparación (14,8 %); y 108 mil a actividades de hogares como empleadores (14,6 %).
