Monteverde se convertirá en el cantón 83 de Costa Rica
Iniciativa impulsada por la diputada Carmen Chan fue aprobada en primer debate este lunes.
La tarde de este lunes el Plenario Legislativo aprobó en su trámite de primer debate el expediente 21.618 que autoriza la creación del cantón de Monteverde. La iniciativa fue impulsada por la diputada independiente afín al Partido Nueva República, Carmen Chan.
Se espera que el segundo debate se realice el próximo jueves. Monteverde sería el cantón número 12 de la provincia de Puntarenas.
De esta manera sus habitantes podrán administrar de manera más eficiente su territorio y recursos.
La diputada proponente del proyecto, Carmen Chan, aseguró que ha sido testigo por muchos años del enorme esfuerzo de los habitantes de Monteverde por desarrollar un pueblo que es único.
“Al Monteverde convertirse en cantón, no tendría que invertir en infraestructura, en contratación de personal, ni en la creación de nuevos departamentos, porque ya se cuenta con lo necesario para brindar los servicios municipales y realizar las labores diarias”, agregó.
Monteverde se caracteriza por su espectacular bosque nuboso, flora, fauna, puentes colgantes y su producción agropecuaria.
En el 2017, Río Cuarto, se convirtió en el cantón 82 del país y 16 de la provincia de Alajuela.
