“Sentí la muerte”: William Bonilla narra su experiencia con la covid-19

William Bonilla, periodista del programa de Repretel Informe 11 Las Historias asegura estar agradecido con Dios por la segunda oportunidad que le dio luego de pasar varios días enfrentando una férrea batalla contra la Covid-19 en una de las salas del Hospital Max Peralta, en Cartago.
En entrevista con el periódico La Teja, William, contó que su mayor temor era ser intubado y fallecer en el centro médico así que no quiso ir al hospital apenas se enteró que tenía el virus. Una decisión que por poco le cuesta la vida.
Bonilla perdió el apetito y sufría a fuertes ataques de tos. El domingo 27 de junio tuvo que ser trasladado de emergencia al hospital donde terminó internado en la Unidad de Cuidados Moderados.
“No iba al hospital porque sentía que me iba a morir o pensaba que me iban a intubar. No dormía, duraba hasta cuarenta minutos vomitando todos los días, me agarraban crisis de tos. Karlita, mi esposa, tenía que llevarme del cuarto al baño y llegaba agitado”, contó el periodista a La Teja.
El lunes 5 de julio el comunicador abandonó el hospital para seguir con la recuperación en su casa.
En sus brazos aún tiene las marcas que le dejaron las agujas luego de múltiples exámenes que le realizaban para monitorear el nivel de oxígeno en la sangre y también por los medicamentos que le inyectaban.
El periodista no puede movilizarse solo y cuando habla se agita. Ni siquiera tiene fuerzas para levantar una cuchara, pero asegura que lo peor ya pasó.
“Es duro estar en el hospital. Un día me bañaron en la cama, cosas que jamás imaginé que iba a pasar, pasaron, como el hacer las necesidades fisiológicas en la cama o en una silla cuando ya tenía un poco más de valor. De verdad que uno no vale nada así de enfermo, si no sos fuerte mentalmente te lleva candanga. Eso es lo que no te dicen porque esta es una enfermedad que también golpea la mente”, indicó.
Su esposa Karla Araya y su hijo Matías son el motor que lo impulsa a recuperarse. Por el momento guardará reposo y estará incapacitado hasta el 26 de julio.
Para disminuir las molestias que le dejó el virus, Bonilla toma ocho pastillas al día, y tiene que realizar inhalaciones para medir su respiración.
“Ahora seré como un mensajero o un guerrero contra el covid, no me cansaré de recordarle a la gente que se cuide. Siento que Dios me dio una segunda oportunidad de vida para decirles que hagan caso, esto que pasé no quiero que nadie más lo viva”, concluyó el comunicador.
