Presidente asegura que urge conocer el destino del dinero que habría sido malversado en caso “Cochinilla”
“Espero que las personas que están involucradas sean castigadas porque esto tiene que ser ejemplarizante”, indicó Carlos Alvarado.
El mandatario de la República, Carlos Alvarado, aseguró que es urgente conocer el destino de los ₡78 mil millones que habrían sido malversados en el caso “Cochinilla” el cual se relaciona con una aparente red de sobornos para la adjudicación de millonarios contratos de obra pública.
“Para que lo dimensionemos 78 mil millones de colones es aproximadamente poquito menos de la mitad del presupuesto de Conavi de un año, a mi como presidente y creo que todos los costarricenses nos interesa saber qué fue lo que paso con esos 78 mil millones de colones porque toda esa es plata no solo que es recaudada con impuestos, pero que también es presupuestada por Hacienda presentados en presupuestos en la Asamblea Legislativa aprobados en la Asamblea Legislativa con sus partidas que pasan luego al Conavi y los presupuestos de Conavi que ejecutan son luego autorizados por la Contraloría General de la República que quiero decir que hay una serie de controles en todo esto”, aseguró Alvarado en entrevista con Noticias Monumental.
El mandatario también comentó en la entrevista que el jerarca del MOPT, Rodolfo Méndez Mata, le advirtió antes de que iniciara la pandemia sobre una serie de irregularidades dentro del Conavi.
Alvarado, aseguró que tomó la noticia con mucha indignación y solicitó fuertes castigos para los responsables.
