La NASA publica una imagen impactante del róver Perseverance aterrizando en Marte
La instantánea, que fue tomada por una cámara alojada en el ‘jatpack’ del robot, muestra a Perseverance justo antes de que sus ruedas se posen sobre el planeta rojo.
La NASA ha compartido en sus redes sociales una imagen espectacular captada este jueves por su róver Perseverance momentos antes de tomar tierra en la superficie de Marte.
«El momento que mi equipo soñó durante años ya es una realidad. Atrévanse a [hacer] grandes cosas», escribió la agencia espacial estadounidense en el perfil de Twitter dedicado al róver marciano.
La fotografía, que fue tomada por una cámara alojada en la mochila propulsora del robot, muestra a Perseverance justo antes de que sus ruedas toquen por primera vez la superficie del planeta rojo, completando su histórico amartizaje.

Otra de las fotografías compartidas por la NASA fue tomada por la cámara HiRISE de la sonda Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) y muestra al róver flotando sobre Marte en su paracaídas durante la fase final de su descenso.

La primera foto que envió a la Tierra Perseverance muestra el horizonte de Marte. A diferencia de otros róvers de la agencia, la mayoría de las cámaras de Perseverance toman imágenes en color.

El objetivo principal de la misión Perseverance en Marte es la investigación astrobiológica y la búsqueda de signos de vida microbiana antigua. Además, el róver recopilará datos sobre la geología y el clima del planeta rojo y almacenará regolito (fragmentos de rocas, minerales y polvo que quedan en la superficie del planeta), allanando el camino a la futura exploración humana de Marte.
