Academia de Ciencias propone nominar a creadores de Sputnik V al Nobel en Rusia
La vacuna Sputnik V cuenta con una eficacia mayor al 90%, según un informe publicado el martes 2 de febrero.
Este viernes 5 de febrero, Alexandr Serguéev, físico y presidente de la Academia de Ciencias de Rusia (RAN, por sus siglas en ruso), afirmó que los creadores de la vacuna Sputnik V contra el nuevo coronavirus deben ser nominados al Premio Nobel de Fisiología o Medicina.
Durante una rueda de prensa virtual organizada por la agencia rusa Rossiya Segodnya, el especialista señaló que es “casi seguro” que entre los nombres propuestos al galardón internacional estará el centro Gamaleya.
“Creo que entre los nominados al Premio Nobel de Fisiología deberían figurar los desarrolladores de nuestras vacunas, y casi estoy seguro de que así será”, comentó.
Asimismo, Serguéev indicó que existe “cierta politización” en la premiación, “pero eso no significa que no debamos nominar a nadie”.
“Debemos estar presentes en foros internacionales para hablar de los logros de nuestros científicos”, aseveró.
Nobel de Medicina destaca eficacia de la vacuna Sputnik V contra la COVID-19
El jueves 4 de febrero, el ganador del Premio Nobel de Fisiología y Medicina en 1996, Peter C. Doherty, resaltó la eficacia de la vacuna Sputnik V contra la COVID-19. Asimismo, aseguró que las posibles modificaciones a la dosis ante las nuevas variantes del virus no causarían dificultades a sus creadores.
“La eficacia de la vacuna Sputnik V—más del 90%— se ve muy bien, y además, Rusia tiene una larga historia de desarrollo de buenas vacunas. La estrategia para el uso de dos vectores de adenovirus tiene sentido, y es, según lo entiendo, utilizado en Sputnik. Por supuesto, si el virus cambia significativamente como resultado de la mutación, los creadores de la vacuna tendrán que ‘corregir’ un poco el fármaco, pero no será difícil“, comentó el especialista.
