Gobierno entregó anticonceptivos fallados y provocó 111 embarazos en Chile
Varias jóvenes denuncian que han quedado con planes truncados. Pese a su negligencia, el Estado les ha negado la opción de abortar.
Entre marzo y setiembre de 2020, el Instituto de Salud Pública (ISP), la máxima autoridad farmacológica de Chile, alertó que ocho lotes de seis píldoras anticonceptivas distintas, administrados en centros de salud públicos, estaban defectuosos y ordenó su retirada del mercado.
Sin embargo, la institución volvió a permitir la distribución de una de las marcas, Anulette CD, tan solo una semana después de retirarlo, y aludió a que las fallas eran visualmente detectables. Tiempo después, más de 100 mujeres denunciaron embarazos no deseados por culpa de este medicamento, según datos de la Corporación Miles.
“Yo quería ser madre, pero más adelante en mi vida. Quería tener un trabajo y una casa antes de esto. Quería tener un futuro”, aqueja Valentina Donoso, de 21 años, que solo tiene el apoyo económico de sus padres y vive en una comuna de estrato socioeconómico bajo en el sur de la capital.
“Mirarme al espejo es duro, me veo la barriga y me recuerda esta pesadilla. Hay días que me levanto bien y quiero tenerla, pero en la mayoría de veces, no”, explica la joven, que ha tenido que pausar sus planes de estudiar en la universidad.
Los lotes defectuosos se distribuyeron por todo el país y hay afectadas en varias regiones, como Barbara Vásquez, de 20 años, que también vio peligrar sus estudios como técnica en educación infantil cuando se enteró del embarazo.
“Yo no tengo trabajo ni nada estable que ofrecerle a mi bebé, necesitamos una compensación económica. Para mi familia, este gasto es demasiado”, declara para EFE la estudiante, que reside en Ñuble, una región del centro de Chile.
Estefany Cavieres, de 28 años, también es otra de las 111 afectadas a causa de la negligencia del Gobierno.
“El mundo ya está demasiado complicado como para traer más hijos. Y ahora me pregunto: ¿en quién confío? A una le da rabia porque el sistema la deja tirada”, señala Cavieres, que tras tres meses de embarazo no deseado y una depresión, sufrió un aborto involuntario.
“A mí me llamó mi matrona para decirme que dejara de tomar Anulette y me advirtió que me comprara por mi cuenta otros anticonceptivos. No supimos nada más”, explica Soledad Castillo, una trabajadora municipal de 35 años que también se encuentra en su quinto mes de una gestación no deseada a causa del fármaco fallido.
Abortos truncados
Pese a que el error se les ha atribuido al Gobierno y a la farmacéutica que produjo los anticonceptivos, el derecho al aborto les ha sido negados a estas mujeres. La Constitución chilena solo permite esta intervención por tres causales: violación, inviabilidad del feto o riesgo vital de la madre.
“Chile tiene un reto por delante. Es necesario que se amplíe el concepto de salud sexual y que, por tanto, se revise la despenalización del aborto”, sentencia Estefanny Molina, abogada de Women’s Link Worlwide, plataforma que elevó el caso a la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) y la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos (CIDH).
Esta situación representa “una cadena completa de violación a los derechos sexuales de las mujeres chilenas”, reitera Molina. Primero, explica, porque no se proporcionaron métodos seguros y eficaces de planificación familiar; después, porque no se permitió a estas mujeres abortar, y finalmente porque tampoco se les ofreció protección a las que no tienen recursos.
El aborto legal es una reivindicación histórica de los colectivos feministas de América Latina, en donde solo Argentina, Cuba, Uruguay, Guyana, además de Ciudad de México y el estado mexicano de Oaxaca han permitido la interrupción libre y voluntaria del embarazo.
