Costa Rica buscará ser sede de la próxima edición de Miss Universo
“Vamos a trabajar para lograrlo”, indicó el ministro de Turismo, Gustavo Segura.
El ministro de Turismo, Gustavo Segura, confirmó ayer viernes los primeros acercamientos entre el Gobierno de Carlos Alvarado y los representantes del concurso de belleza más importante a nivel internacional con el propósito de que Costa Rica sea la sede del certamen.
«La posibilidad existe y vamos a trabajar para lograrlo», declaró el ministro en el programa Charlemos, del periodista Carlos Fernández que se transmite por Radio Actual.
Tanto Segura como otros funcionarios del Ejecutivo como el ministro de Coordinación con el Sector Privado, André Garnier, se reunieron por videoconferencia con representantes de Miss Universo para analizar la posibilidad de que el país albergue el concurso entre diciembre de 2021 y febrero de 2022.
«Hoy me fue dada a conocer esta posibilidad. Fue el primer acercamiento de la organización con el Instituto Costarricense de Turismo (ICT), y nosotros participamos muy de cerca con el grupo de autoridades que administramos la marca de Costa Rica. Para Costa Rica sería una linda oportunidad albergar un concurso que tiene tantos años y tiene muchísimo alcance de audiencia», indicó el ministro.
Segura manifestó que la organización del evento lo único que le solicitaría a Costa Rica es apoyo institucional y no patrocinios económicos.
“El ICT no puede en estos momentos patrocinar un evento así, porque no tiene recursos. Pero la buena noticia es que no fue ese el apoyo que se nos fue solicitado, pareciera que ellos tienen la posibilidad de conseguir sus recursos a nivel privado y lo que se necesita es un apoyo institucional”, acotó.
El jerarca de Turismo dijo que impulsará la creación de un «comité de apoyo» que trabaje para concretar que el concurso se realice en el país.
El funcionario comentó que uno de los puntos claves para que Costa Rica sea la sede del evento, es que se proyecte la imagen real del país en cuanto a naturaleza, biodiversidad y bienestar para los visitantes.
«Tenemos que asegurarnos que el concurso lleve una temática que se adapte a nuestro producto turístico. Si sucede un Miss Universo que proyecte a Costa Rica como lo que es, que es un destino de biodiversidad, de bienestar, que lleva progreso social, los objetivos (de ambas partes) estarían alineados», explicó.
Segura, concluyó su intervención reiterando que la posibilidad de que se realice Miss Universo en suelo tico existe y que van a trabajar para lograrlo.
El primer país centroamericano en ser sede de este concurso fue El Salvador en 1975, mientras que Panamá, ha sido anfitrión dos veces, en 1986 y 2003.
